Combating Mis-representation by Self-representaion

What an excellent use of blogs. We all know about the potential for the web to distribute alternative political ideas outside of big media, but how about using blogs as an alternative way to represent yourself as an individual who is part of a minority group? There is some interesting stuff coming out of the gay community as the media representation of ‘gay’ is hardly ever controlled by ourselves. And it is hard enough being a minority sexuality but how about being a minority within a minority? This guy Brad has some smart things to say. His site is primarily a pod casting site; check out the ‘I am’ section (link).

There is also a video where he discusses his site (sorry it is a bit North American cheesy)

I agree this is an excellent use of blogs. The internet is the great equalizer and the great opportunity that affords each of us true freedom of speech. And the more traffic the Internet accrues each day further levels the playing field against the former larger medias to which we as regular citizens had no access or influence.
