StopG20 protests

Despite what was said on the big media, yesterday’s protest against the G20 meeting held in Melbourne was reasonably successful. A group of ‘anarchists’ dressed in white probably went a bit too far, but there were only a small number of them. A friend of mine (a medical scientist; had his finger broken by a police baton). He claims that the anarchists had planned to attacks the police, but the police had responded with Ultra Violence. stopg20.jpg

The biggest fool of the day had to be our fearless Treasurer Peter Costello. In his comments on TV he was baffled by why people protest and wondered ‘what goes through their heads’? Protest and civil disobedience are as legitimate to the tapestry of a vibrant democracy as a fool who uses his public position to undermine these very processes.
